Chiropractic Better Than Drugs for Back Pain

Chiropractic More Effective than Drugs for Back Pain

Here in our West Seattle, WA office, Dr. Gloria Adkins has helped several patients recover from back pain. If you are suffering from back pain, you've most likely been tempted to take drugs to relieve the discomfort. You should recognize that research shows that chiropractic is usually a better choice than drugs when it comes to relieving this particular type of problem.

In a 2013 report published in the medical journal Spine experts included 101 individuals who had experienced back pain for at least 48 hours. Each individual was then designated to one of three groups. The first group, which was made up of 37 patients, received chiropractic treatment and a placebo of the medication diclofenac. The second group of 38 individuals received fake chiropractic treatments and the genuine drug. The third group of 25 subjects served as the control as those subjects engaged in sham chiropractic care and also received the placebo, thus having no real care whatsoever.

All of the participants who received some type of real treatment, whether through chiropractic or the medication, fared better than the control patients who had no real treatment. However, when the two active groups were compared to each other, the people who received chiropractic had improvements that were "significantly better" than those who took the drug diclofenac.

Natural Healing with Chiropractic Care

Because chiropractic care is non-invasive and involves no use of medication, it helps enhance healing without negative side effects. For example, NSAIDs can result in ulcers, heart problems, and other serious health concerns. Plus, the health benefits of chiropractic last longer as it's intended to resolve the source of the spinal interference, not just treat the symptoms.

If you're ready to get help for your back pain naturally, then chiropractic is for you. Schedule an appointment in our West Seattle, WA office with Dr. Gloria Adkins today at (206) 258-4886. We'll help ease your back problems in a healthy way!
