Dr. Adkins has helped many people in West Seattle, WA recover from back pain, and a 2014 study reinforces what we've seen in our clinic. The authors carried out a study of 148 people with MRI-confirmed lumbar disc herniation causing back pain, sciatica, and radiating leg symptoms. Many patients (79) suffered from chronic lumbar disc herniation lasting longer than three months. Thirty seven subjects had disc herniations for less than four weeks at the start of the investigation.
Each of the test subjects received chiropractic adjustments based upon the needs of each person. After two weeks, 70% of the subjects had significant improvements in pain and disability; and at three months, 90% had substantial improvement. Most importantly, the progress was retained by patients, with over 80% of individuals reporting improvement after one year.
